About Us
The Alliance for Incarcerated Women (AIW) is dedicated to supporting incarcerated women by providing medical advocacy, pro bono legal support (clemency, compassionate release, and change in designation), and family reunification programs.
- We focus on supporting incarcerated women and their families through medical advocacy, legal assistance, and family reunification services.
- We collaborate with correctional facilities to provide Telehealth, deliver health education, and advocate for improved healthcare standards.
- We connect women with pro bono attorneys for legal petitions like compassionate release.
- We partner with nonprofits to support visitation and offer transportation assistance, ensuring that women and their loved ones can maintain strong bonds during incarceration.

Karen’s unexpected incarceration at the age of 60 was a devastating blow. Sentenced to 25 years for a first-time offense, she faced a bleak future. Her husband turned to Aleph for support, and they successfully advocated for her transfer to a closer facility. Despite facing numerous challenges, including the loss of her mother and health issues, Karen found solace in her faith, thanks to Aleph’s encouragement. She endured a traumatic solitary confinement but was eventually returned to the general population with Aleph’s intervention. Ultimately, Karen was released early under the First Step Act, a testament to the invaluable support she received from Aleph throughout her ordeal.
